We switched Newsnight on last night to see Douglas Carswell.
Carswell himself was okay, but we were then treated to a "discussion" between Dan Hannan and Ming, who trotted out the tired old clichés about Europe ensuring peace after the second world war, and Europe being our biggest market.
These "arguments" really are way past their sell-by date.
Dan and Ming were allowed a few seconds each time to make their points in the format of a standard BBC discussion, this one mediated by Mrs McShoutie, who brought nothing special to the proceedings at all.
Is Newsnight special? Not on this evidence.
