Chuka Umunna, Labour MP for Streatham, says he wants to see Blackberry's messenger service "temporarily disabled" between 1800 BST and 0600 BST to stop those organising disorder.
Don't they get it yet? You can't assume this will blow itself out in a few days. It's getting sophisticated. Spotters on bikes check where the police are and then cycle off to tell the others.
We are going to have to give the police plastic bullets permanently, and give them the discretion to use them without referring up. Yes, people will get hurt.
No good saying it's unBritish. These few days have changed British policing for ever. The genie is out of the bottle. The looters know their power.

Nicely put PS!
Thanks. Sadly, last night's events only bear me out.
Sorry about the last comment did not come out right.
Idiots who believe this will be a short event, it's not until things change.
But sadly I'm disabled and have been since 1996 my accident would and should have ended my life, but I ended up in a coma for a long time, when I came out my life had changed.
But like it or not we have to many people on the bottom going nowhere.
we had labour telling me on TV we have put in place massive help for you to return to work, and I said great lets go, down I go to the job centre to be told, Sally's on the sick come back next month, back I go and they sally left now we are training up John, sadly Johns gone on the sick. I had this for two years until they sent me to an employment agency, where I met a young lady out of college who refused to shake my hand , in case she would catch something, then the young person came in and shook my hand she was wearing cotton gloves .
I'm paraplegic I have nothing you can can catch.
I then had a year of so called community voluntarily work in which my CV would be bulging and I would be employed by everyone, six years later 1000 job applications not one single interview, I feel like rioting myself.
Then the job centre had a job I could do, an office worked a temp to do general duty at the job centre, guess what I was turned down on the grounds of being disabled unable to keep up with others.
Not plastic bullets, real ones!
