Whilst we can have every sympathy with the peoples of Libya (there is no single Libyan people) for the ghastly government under which they have suffered for forty years, there is absolutely no guarantee that the leaders who emerge from the rebel side will be one whit better.
They may be a great deal worse. That is the usual way with revolutions and I don't think that HMG is any better at "picking winners" in this sort of competition than it is with its investments in the home economy.
Still the French are doing very well out of us, trousering a million pounds for the replacements for each Storm Shadow bomb the RAF drops.
